Welcome to The Tarryn Reeves Show, where your journey to empowerment takes center stage. I'm your host, Tarryn Reeves, bestselling author and publishing expert. Together, we'll dive into the hearts and minds of visionaries, disruptors, and trailblazing leaders to explore the most compelling and thought provoking ideas in life, business, and marketing.
Let's inspire, impact, and ignite. This is The Tarryn Reeves Show. Let me ask you something. Are you tired of feeling like you need to master every single trend on social media just to stay relevant? I sure as hell know that I am. Is your brain doing backflips trying to figure out if you should be lip syncing, pointing at captions, or learning a dance routine just to keep up?
Here's the thing. Trends come and go. But what if there was a way to cement your authority without relying on the whim of algorithms? Here's the trick, there is, it's called writing a book. Let's unpack why this could be, in my opinion, [00:01:00] is the best decision that you will ever make for your business and therefore your lifestyle picture.
This, you wake up, grab your phone and scroll through social media. We all do it another day, another trend, and another sinking feeling that you're falling behind. If you're not jumping on it, sound familiar. It's exhausting right? I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. That's because tracing trends feels like running a race where the finish line keeps moving further and further away.
You just can't win. Now, imagine this instead. You've written a book. It's sitting in the hands of your ideal clients on bestseller lists, and it's a tangible timeless representation of your expertise. No algorithms needed, no viral dances required, although I do like some of them. Just authority, respect, and a tool that keeps working for you, day in and day out.
Let's get real for a second. Social [00:02:00] media can be an incredible tool. I love it. I'm on it. I'm on all the platforms. But it's also a fickle one. Algorithms change faster than my toddler goes through snacks. And that's next level. Platforms rise and fall. Remember Vine, Myspace, even Instagram looks like nothing like it did five years ago.
Hell, last week they changed the size of the graphics. So now my graphics team is hustling to change everything. Building your authority solely on social media is like trying to build a house on big sand. And honestly, as a mum myself to an eight year old and a one year old, I've got better things to do with my time than stress about whether my latest reel is trendy enough.
That's why I've leaned into writing books. Because they don't just build authority, they create stability. I'm not saying get rid of social media altogether. What I'm saying is, build your platform on something more reliable. Here's the deal with a book. It's not just content. It's [00:03:00] your stage, your microphone, and your ticket to the big leagues.
Unlike a viral post that disappears faster than a plate of cookies at my toddler's birthday party, a book has staying power. And that's what we want as entrepreneurs staying power. It's evergreen. People can discover it years from now and still find it valuable. And the best part is you do it once you do it, right.
You build your marketing ecosystem around it and sit back and chill. And let's not forget the instant credibility that it gives you. When you say, I wrote a book, people automatically assume, you know, your stuff. It's a credibility hack that no TikTok dance can match. It just isn't. It's not just about building authority either.
It simplifies your entire marketing strategy. And In today's fast paced world, honestly, simplicity is, is something that I crave. Here's how a book simplifies your marketing strategy. Number one, it's lead generation. It's lead generation on steroids. [00:04:00] It's lead generation powered up, fueled up. Your book acts as a lead magnet.
You can offer it for free or at a low cost and you'll attract qualified leads who are already interested in what you have to offer. On top of that, the book will warm up those leads. It will help create a relationship. Think of it this way, think it's your favorite business book. Do you feel like you kind of know the person that you know what they like, what they don't like, how they operate?
You kind of feel like your friends, right? And you're eager to buy their next level stuff. That's what a book does for you when it comes to lead generation. Number two, content repurposing. Work smarter, not harder. Every chapter of your book can be repurposed into blog posts, podcast episodes, social media content, or email campaigns.
That's a month of content already done, and it's already in your voice. You've written the book, how you can even copy and paste a chapter from your book into chat GPT and say, break this up into, you know, several podcasts, episodes, social media, content, blog posts. Make it easy. Let it be easier. [00:05:00] Number three, collaborations.
Being a published author opens doors. It opens doors like nothing else does. Speaking engagements, podcast interviews, media features, all of these things become more accessible when you have a book under your belt. And four, client acquisition. When potential clients read your book, they feel like they already know you.
We discussed this Couple of minutes ago, by the time they reach out, they're already primed to work with you. So when you hop on a sales call, it's actually not even a sales call. It's more of more of a qualifying conversation, you know, just answering those one or two questions that they need to get started.
And I want to talk about the legacy factor as well. What do you want to be remembered for? Chasing trends might give you a moment in the spotlight, something might go viral, but a book creates a lasting impact. It becomes part of your professional story. Think about the entrepreneurs and the leaders you admire.
How many of them have written books? How many of the big players in your niche, in your industry, have written books? I would say almost all of them. A [00:06:00] book lets you share your unique message and wisdom with the world. It's a way to say I was here and this is what I stood for. And the best part is that it's not just for now.
It's for future generations to learn from and be inspired by. What a gift to be able to leave. What a mark to be able to leave. Now, I do love a real life example because we all like practical steps and I'm the queen of practicality. So I want to share with you two quick stories. One of my clients, Solomon, turned his five day challenge and a one hour webinar into two books.
Now those books didn't just sit on shelves collecting dust. They solidified his authority, generated consistent leads, and brought in clients who were ready to invest. He didn't need to dance on TikTok to make it happen. His books did the heavy lifting for him. And he didn't even have to write these himself.
Okay. He gave my team and I access to the challenge and the webinar, and we wrote the books on his behalf and published them. It can be as easy and as quick and as simple as you want it to be. Then there's Lewis, who has an audience of over 750, 000 people on his [00:07:00] social networks. This guy is doing, killing it on social.
You'd think his social media following would be enough, right? Wrong. It wasn't until he wrote his book that he was able to generate consistent leads and create a reliable sales process for his business. His book became the missing puzzle piece that tied everything together. Now, I know what some of you are thinking.
I don't have time to write a book. Here's the thing. Like I said, writing a book can be as simple and as quick as you want it to be. It doesn't have to take years. I wrote a book in seven days with my seven year old and a newborn in hand. It's about having the right framework and support. And that's something that my team specializes in.
Another thought that might be rampaging through your brain is, I'm not a writer. Well, guess what? You don't have to be. Not everyone's good at writing. I suck at maths. You can't be good at everything. You just need a clear message, a compelling story, and then someone to guide you through the process. And that's where professionals like me come in.
And a third thing that I often hear is, [00:08:00] What if no one reads it? That old imposter syndrome, that fear. Now it's a valid fear, but here's the truth. If you publish strategically, just like everything in business with marketing and positioning in mind, your book will find its audience. It's not about reaching everyone.
It's about reaching the right people. So what are the risks of doing nothing? Let's talk about what happens if you don't take action. If you don't write a book. That's okay. Maybe it's not the right time. You can keep chasing trends, pouring time and energy into platforms that might not even exist in five years.
Hell, it might not even exist tomorrow. Look what just happened to TikTok. They just turned it off in the U. S. for a couple of days. Just turned it off. All of those people earning money on TikTok, that paycheck dried up faster than That's probably not an appropriate analogy, but you get my point, right?
Meanwhile, your competitors are writing books, they're building authority, and they're leaving you in the dust. Do you really want to risk being irrelevant? If this resonates with you, here's your next step. Start [00:09:00] brainstorming. What message do you want to share with the world? What problems can you solve for your audience?
Write it down. Break the process into small, manageable steps. Start with an outline, then fill it in. One chapter at a time. One word in front of the other is where you get to where you need to go. Okay? When you make a plan this way, the overwhelm of writing an entire book and what do I start with, what goes where, goes away.
And remember, you don't have to do it alone. Reach out to experts who can help you streamline the process and create a book that truly represents your expertise. I am a huge fan of Do It Once, Do It Right. And let's talk about the all important ROI of writing a book. Let's talk numbers. Writing a book is an investment.
You are going to have to spend some money, but the returns can be exponential. As Lewis just said, he said he was skeptical about working with my team and I on the book coaching aspect. He thought he might try and do it himself, but he said that the investment was tenfold what he made back. [00:10:00] So just ask him.
Think about the clients you could attract, the speaking fees you could command and the credibility that you could gain. Not to mention the ROI when you do it strategically and sell your next level offers using your book on the front end. It goes far beyond the initial effort. So there you have it. You can stop chasing social media trends and start building something lasting.
